IASA SHOWMANSHIP CHALLENGE

IASA Performance Challenge  

• Rider/trainer is to submit where they qualified and proof of IASA membership at time of entry. Must be a member of IASA before entry number is given at October Classic

• Class Specs: 

  • Trot, Extended Trot, Canter, Walk, both directions 

  • To be judged on horsemanship, ringmanship, ring awareness, ability to present the horse to the best of that horse’s ability.

• Horse:

  • Lesson horse – full bridle, running martingale, german martingale, drawrein 

    • No martigales or draw reins with a leverage/curb bit

• Rider: 

  • 17 & under 

  • Must have shown in a minimum of 4 classes at 2 of the following shows in Iowa:

    • IASA Tune Up Show 

    • Great River Benefit Horse Show

    • Mid States Horse & Pony Show

    • Iowa State Fair 

    • Iowa Fall Extravaganza 

  • Equitation, Academy, In-Hand, and Walk & Trot only classes do not qualify  

• Entry Fee: $100 

How the Class Will Run

• Phase 1: 

  • Walk, trot, extended trot, halt, and canter both directions, line up. Excuse the class to the paddock.

• Phase 2: 

  • If class entries are over 12, Phase 1 will be split into two sections. 

    • The judge is to pick at least 8 to return for phase 2. 

  • If class entries are under 12, only top 8 return. 

    • If entries are less than 8, all riders are eligible for phase 2. 

• Awards: 

  • After the line up the top 8 riders are called back in, given a participation ribbon and placings announced in reverse numerical order, victory lap parade ending with the champion. Other riders are given participation ribbons in the paddock. 

Awards: 

• 1st place – $1,000 scholarship – Ribbon, Neck Sash, Arthur Court Cup, Can only be won once, winner invited to learner judge next year’s class
